Parch to premiere at the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny

Fans of the popular S4C series Parch will be able to get an exclusive preview of the second series at The National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny this year.

Parch will premiere at Sinemaes on Wednesday, 3 August at 11am, Sinemaes is a new pavilion organised by BAFTA this year to celebrate its 25 anniversary.

Parch returns to S4C screens on Sunday, 4 September; the series is created and written by acclaimed author Fflur Dafydd, who lectures at Swansea University and is originally from Llandysul.

The second series stars Carys Eleri as Myfanwy, now a community priest struggling to come to terms with the side effects of her treatment for a brain aneurysm.

The first series of Parch (translation: Respect) was shown on S4C last year, and is produced by Boom Cymru, the award-winning production company based in Cardiff.

Throughout August S4C viewers will be able to binge-watch the entire first series in preparation for the second series which starts in September.

Y Llyfrgell (The Library Suicides), which will premiere on S4C in the new year, will also have its first showing in Abergavenny during the week. The film is also penned by Parch writer Fflur Dafydd, a production which she also co produced with acclaimed director Euros Lyn.

And during the Eisteddfod week, Fflur and Euros will also hold a workshop 'How to create a new film,' on Monday, 1 August at 7.30.

Also in Sinemaes during the week there will be a showing of another film to be shown on S4C next year, Yr Ymadawiad (The Passing). The film stars Mark Lewis Jones, Annes Elwy and Dyfan Dwyfor, and is written by y Gwyll/Hinterland co-creator, Ed Talfan.

The Pobol y Cwm cast and crew will also be holding a workshop at Sinemaes on 'How to embark on a career', with the soap's producer Llyr Morus leading the discussion.

Eisteddfod goers will be able to enjoy a host of S4C programmes during the week, including many gems from the archive.
