A chance to have your say on the future of Welsh language television
27 July 2016
What are people's favourite programmes on S4C? What kind of service should S4C be providing in the future? What does a Welsh language television channel mean to viewers and their communities?
The public are given the opportunity to share their opinions about S4C and contribute to the discussions about its future in an online questionnaire: 'Have Your Say'.
S4C wants the public's voice to be included as the channel prepares to contribute to the UK Government's Independent Review of S4C in 2017. The Review will look at S4C's role and work – the kind of service which it is likely to be required to provide in the future, its remit, accountability and funding.
S4C's Have Your Say questionnaire will ask the public for their opinions on these matters, as well as the type of service they'd like to see from S4C in the future.
The questionnaire is available to fill in now on the s4c.cymru website and the channel's officers will also quiz people at the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny next week.
Huw Jones, S4C Authority Chairman, says it's vital that the public are included in discussions about the channel's future.
Huw Jones says; "We want to offer an opportunity for the public to contribute their opinions as we prepare for the UK Government's Independent Review of S4C in 2017 – what type of service do they want to see and what kind of modern media service will Welsh-speakers need in the next ten years. Our hope is that the Review will consider this carefully along with how S4C can provide and fund that service on a secure basis."
The answers in the questionnaire will help the channel as it prepares to contribute to the Review in 2017.
