Dramas commissioned by S4C took centre stage at the BAFTA Cymru 2016 awards, with the film Yr Ymadawiad, crime series Y Gwyll/Hinterland and suspense series 35 Diwrnod scooping six gongs between them.
There were a grand total of nine awards for S4C in a celebration of Welsh film and TV excellence, at the 25th annual BAFTA Cymru awards at St David's Hall, Cardiff on Sunday, 2 October.
The film Yr Ymadawiad /The Passing triumphed in three categories, including Best Writer for Ed Talfan, in the evening hosted by radio DJ Huw Stephens.
Mark Lewis Jones won the best actor accolade for his portrayal of the mysterious farmer Stanley, while Tim Dickel took the award for Production Design.
Produced by Severn Screen and currently on cinematic release, Yr Ymadawiad is set for broadcast on S4C in 2017.
The detective series Y Gwyll/Hinterland, filmed on location in Ceredigion, once more came up trumps, this time winning two awards.
Produced by Fiction Factory for S4C and BBC Wales, it took the Best Television Drama award, while actress Mali Harries, who stars as DI Mared Rhys, took the Best Actress award.
The noir detective drama, which also stars Richard Harrington as DCI Mathias, is set to return to S4C for a third series at the end of this month.
Another S4C suspense series, 35 Diwrnod also tasted success, with the second series winning the Director award for Lee Haven Jones. Produced by Apollo, part of Boom Cymru, a third series of the popular whodunnit is currently in production.
S4C's flagship news programme, Newyddion 9, won an award for the second year running. Produced by BBC Cymru Wales, they took the award for their stirring coverage of Europe's refugee crisis in the report, Argyfwng y Mudwyr.
Rondo Media production company is well-known for its quality music and entertainment output for S4C. Producer Hefin Owen's depiction of the Urdd Youth Theatre's preparations for their production of the musical Les Misérables at the Wales Millennium Centre won him and the company the Entertainment Programme award for Les Misérables – Y Daith i'r Llwyfan.
Another Rondo Media production won the Live Outside Broadcast award for S4C's prestigious biannual Choir of Wales competition Côr Cymru: Y Rownd Derfynol. Filmed on location in The Great Hall in Aberystwyth, the series has established itself as the premier choral competition for Welsh choirs. Last year's winners were the children's choir from the Vale of Glamorgan, Côr Heol y March.
