S4C appoints new Factual Commissioner

23 January 2017

S4C has appointed Llinos Wynne to the role of the channel's Content Commissioner for Factual programmes.

Llinos Wynne will start work at S4C soon, and will divide her time between S4C's headquarters in Cardiff and the office in Caernarfon.

Llinos Wynne has been working freelance in the TV industry for the past six years, and has worked for various production companies across Wales, as well as in the rest of the UK. Before going freelance, Llinos worked for the BBC for over twenty years, and turned her hand to researching, presenting and producing for TV and radio.

Llinos won a BAFTA Cymru award for her documentary Josie's Journey, broadcast on BBC network. Llinos specialises in producing entertaining, as well as serious factual programmes for S4C, including popular series Jude Cissé and Mamwlad, as well as one-off programmes portraying individuals, including Delme Thomas: Brenin y Strade. Llinos has produced English-language programmes too; including successful factual programmes for the BBC. Among the extensive documentaries she's produced are Welsh Towns (presented by Eddie Butler), A Garden in Snowdonia and programmes for the Coming Home series, featuring actress Alison Steadman and politician Neil Kinnock.

Llinos is looking forward to joining the S4C team, after six years of working as a freelancer.

"I'm conscious that it will be a challenge at times, but the Channel has huge potential, and my aim as Factual Commissioner will be to include relevant and varied programmes in S4C's schedule. It's so important to produce entertaining factual programmes, as well as documentaries that will provoke reaction. I'm looking forward to working with production programmes to create innovative and forward-thinking programmes and series in Welsh, to broadcast on various platforms for S4C."

Llinos lists S4C's Mamwlad series among her career highlights and she's immensely proud that a programme on the artist Gwen John, lead to discovering her missing grave in Dieppe.

Amanda Rees, S4C's Director of Content, welcomed the appointment:

"It's a pleasure to announce that Llinos Wynne will be joining S4C as a Factual Commissioner, and I look forward to welcoming her to her new role. Llinos has extensive and varied skills in the world of producing and broadcasting which will be a huge asset to the Channel, and I look forward to seeing Llinos make her mark as a factual commissioner in what will be a challenging and exciting period for S4C."

S4C advertised for Factual Commissioner after Llion Iwan, the current commissioner, was appointed the Channel's Head of Content Distribution, after four and half years in his present role.
