Tell us your stories, says Nigel Owens as Chwedloni legends strand is unveiled
08 August 2017
The word-famous referee and TV presenter Nigel Owens is calling on people to grab the opportunity to tell their favourite stories to the whole nation in a series of short films for S4C.
He set the exciting challenge to the people of Wales at the National Eisteddfod today (Tuesday, 8 August, 13:00) as he blew the first whistle on the exciting project, Chwedloni.
The short films will be a huge part of a colourful season of programmes entitled Chwedlau (translation: Legends) on S4C during November which will include a magical variety of programmes to coincide with the Welsh Government's 'Year of Legends 2017'.
Nigel Owens says, "Everyone has an interesting story, something remarkable that has happened in their family or in their community and we want you to share them with us to include them in Chwedloni. I know of several local stories and legends in our village and the rugby world is full of stories and legends, those that are appropriate to share with the general public of course! This is a very exciting project and I hope you come forward in your droves with your stories to show how imaginative we are as a nation."
If you have a good story you'd like to share, please get in touch with production company Orchard at helo@chwedloni.cymru on e-mail or by telephone, 02920 100 888.
Amanda Rees, Director of Creative Content, S4C is very excited about the project, "Everyone has at least one great story; one favourite tale that they tell their friends over lunch or over a pint in the pub… It could be a story that makes you laugh or makes you cry, something that surprises you, spellbinds you or even scares the daylights out of you! The idea is to celebrate and compile the best of these fireside stories under the Chwedloni banner on S4C.
"In addition to creating a special website where you will be able to see and listen to the 50 best stories online, they will also be shown between peak-hour programmes on S4C throughout November."
The 'Chwedloni' project, which is a collaboration between Visit Wales, S4C and production company Orchard, was launched at the S4C stall by the presenter Lisa Angharad.
