Online coverage of midweek Welsh Premier League match kicks off new service
06 September 2017
Welsh TV channel S4C will broadcast a number of JD Welsh Premier League live, only online this season, in addition to the regular Saturday evening live TV matches.
And the service, live online on s4c.cymru and the Facebook Live Sgorio page, kicks off tomorrow - Thursday, 7 September, 7.45pm - when S4C football flagship Sgorio webcasts Llandudno v Prestatyn, from the Giant Hospitality Stadium.
The online transmission, which will be available to watch throughout the UK, will only provide coverage of the match itself. Match commentary will be in Welsh.
"The online service is an exciting new addition to the channel's coverage of the Welsh Premier League matches," says S4C Sports Commissioner, Sue Butler.
"There is an increasing demand for online coverage of sport and the service means that S4C can show even more live JD Welsh Premier League action, in particular midweek matches."
S4C is webcasting more and more live sports events on s4c.cymru and S4C Facebook Live, including rugby matches on all levels, cycling and triathlon, as well as football.
Along with Welsh Premier League football coverage, S4C broadcasts Wales' World Cup qualification matches live. The two recent matches against Austria and Moldova proved popular, and S4C will broadcast the two remaining matches live next month against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland.
Sgorio, S4C's longest running sports programme, is produced by Rondo Media.
