Children's, entertainment, drama and a digital app claim six BAFTA Cymru awards for S4C projects

S4C has won six BAFTA Cymru 2017 awards in the 26th awards ceremony that took place on Sunday, 8 October in St David’s Hall, Cardiff.
The series Deian a Loli, produced by Cwmni Da won the Children’s Programme category. The popular weekly series for young children follows mischievous twins who have secret super powers, and a new series of Deian a Loli starts on S4C at the end of this month.
The programme Taith Bryn Terfel: Gwlad y Gân (Boom Cymru) triumphed in the Entertainment Programme category during the evening which was hosted by BBC Radio 1 DJ, Huw Stephens at Cardiff's St David's Hall. The programme saw the world-renowned opera singer embark on a musical journey across Wales and perform a variety of songs along the way.
Benjamin Talbott and Victoria Ashfield were awarded for the best Original Music for drama for their work on the one-off drama Galesa. The unique production was filmed in Patagonia with the co-operation of the Welsh language community there, to mark 150 since the first Welsh landing in Patagonia. Galesa was scripted by Roger Williams and produced by his company Joio, who is also behind the popular crime series Bang which is currently screening on S4C.
Production team of the film Y Llyfrgell celebrated a win for Euros Lyn for best Fiction Director. Produced by Ffilm Ffolyn Cyf, the film adaption of Fflur Dafydd's award winning novel has already had national and international success.
Richard Stoddard won the award for best Photography and Lighting in Fiction for the dark drama Yr Ymadawiad. Richard has won this award in the past for his contribution to the international detective drama Y Gwyll/Hinterland.
For the first time this year, there was a special award for digital content. The ap Brwydr y Bwystfil (Creature Battle Lab) won the award in the Game category. The game was developed by Dojo Arcade with the support of S4C’s Digital Fund.
S4C’s Creative Content Director says, “Once again this year, S4C’s success is testament to the dedication and creativity of the sector. Talented individuals and production companies are creating content of the highest standard which grabs the imagination of the viewers.
