Nine Celtic nominations for S4C as Wales prepares to host awards

Nine S4C productions have been nominated in the 2018 Celtic Media Festival Awards.
This year, the festival that promotes the languages and cultures of Celtic countries in the media, is taking place in Llanelli between 2 and 4 May.
Producers of the popular crime drama Bang (Joio), will compete for an award in the Drama Series category while the Christmas film Albi a Noa yn Achub yr Iwnifyrs (Boom Cymru) has been nominated for a Single Drama award.
The channel's entertainment programmes have impressed the critics as Y Salon (Boom Cymru) and Côr Cymru 2017 – Ieuenctid (Rondo Media) are both nominated in the Entertainment category. Two other programmes, the ground-breaking social experiment in intergenerational care, Hen Blant Bach (Darlun), and a choir's trip to the other side of the world, Only Men Aloud yn Bollywood (Boom Cymru), have been nominated in the Factual Entertainment category.
Hillsborough: Yr Hunllef Hir (Rondo Media) tells the personal story of Dylan Llewelyn from Pwllheli as he examines the lasting effects of the Hillsborough disaster on those who witnessed it. The one-off emotional documentary is nominated in the Sports Documentary category.
The hugely popular kids' series about mischievous twins who have secret super powers, Deian a Loli a’r Bwci Bo (Cwmni Da), has received a nomination in the Children’s Programme category. The series will hope to add to its haul of awards after its triumph at the BAFTA Cymru Awards in 2017.
And the powerful film Colli Dad: Siarad am Hynna (BBC Cymru), where Stephen Hughes talks openly about his father's suicide and was broadcast as part of S4C's Mental Health Week, has been nominated in the Factual Series category.

Three of the S4C productions nominated by the Celtic Media Festival are also hoping for international success in the USA. Drama series Bang, and documentaries Hen Blant Bach and Colli Dad: Siarad am Hynna are all shortlisted in the 2018 New York International Film and Television Awards which are held in Las Vegas on 10 April.
