Form an orderly ‘Cyw’: Extra tickets released for magical children’s concert
01 August 2018
Tickets for the special orchestral children’s concert – Cyw a’r Gerddorfa – during the Cardiff National Eisteddfod are like gold-dust. But, there’s good news for Cyw fans today, as 60 extra tickets go up for sale!
The tickets released today are for the Cyw a’r Gerddorfa performance at 3.30 on Tuesday afternoon, 7 August, at the BBC Hoddinott Hall at the Wales Millennium Centre. Tickets are available on the Centre’s website www.wmc.org.uk or by phoning, 0845 4090 800*
The extra tickets are for a relaxed performance, suitable for children with autism, sensory and communication impairments and learning disabilities, as well as individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind and partially sighted.
It’s first come first serve, and they won’t be around for long! When the tickets were first released in May, they sold out in less than two weeks, prompting the addition of an extra show to the schedule.
The five Cyw a’r Gerddorfa concerts, on Monday and Tuesday, 6 and 7 August, are part of celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the S4C children's service, Cyw. The shows are suitable for nursery children and young families, and among the characters taking part are Tref and Tryst, Dona Direidi, Ben Dant, Radli Miggins, Deian a Loli, as well as presenters Huw and Elin. Joining the Cyw crew will be the BBC National Orchestra of Wales as they perform colourful orchestral arrangements of popular children's songs and nursery rhymes.
Sioned Wyn Roberts, S4C Children’s Content Commissioner is overwhelmed by the response!
Sioned Wyn Roberts says; "The demand for tickets for this unique show has been incredible! With less than a week until the first performance, we’re very pleased to be able to release these extra tickets in response to the demand, and that even more of Cyw’s friends can come celebrate the birthday. The 60 tickets are sure to sell fast – so don't hesitate to claim yours!"
Ticket prices are between £5 and £8 for the 45-minute concert at 3.30 on Tuesday afternoon, 7 August. They are available on the Wales Millenium Centre website , or by phoning, 0845 4090 800*
