Junior Eurovision Song Contest Auditions

For a second year, S4C and production company Rondo Media are looking for a young star to represent Wales in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

This is an unique opportunity for young people between the ages of nine and 14, individuals or groups up to six members, to perform before an audience of millions across Europe and beyond.

Last year for the first time ever Wales competed as an individual nation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Manw Lili from Rhostryfan represented Wales in the competition in Minsk, Belarus in November 2018.

This year, Lloyd Macey will be joining Tara Bethan and Connie Fisher as one of the mentors. Lloyd found fame in the popular series The X Factor in 2017 and has performed live before audiences of more than 150,000 across Britain.

"I'm delighted to be joining the judges," said Lloyd. "I'm a huge fan of the Eurovision Song Contest and have been watching it for years. I'm looking forward to meeting the competitors and helping them through the process. I watched the series last year and the talent was totally amazing."

"I think we are very lucky in Wales that we have a tradition of performing but also we are familiar with being judged and pleasing judges. We're used to having to learn from that and work on our craft and this is something unique and very special," Lloyd explains.

"I can't wait for the auditions to begin and I'm looking forward to seeing who will fly the flag for Wales on the European stage!"

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will be held in Gilwece Arena, Poland this year on November 24. S4C will be broadcasting the competition live and before this there will be a series of three programmes which will take us on the journey to find young stars, with the public getting the chance to choose their favourite to travel to Poland.

Nothing compares to the Eurovision song Contest in Europe. It's sister competition for young performers 9-14 years old is just as high profile, and attracts attention from Europe and beyond. Thousands of people come to watch the competition live and millions more watch it on television.

A series of auditions will be held at the following locations:

Carmarthen - Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, 24 April 2019 (morning)

Aberystwyth - Arts Centre, 24 April 2019 (afternoon)

Llandudno – Venue Cymru 25 April 2019 (10.30-15.00)

Cardiff: Wales Millennium Centre 5 May 2019
