Erin Mai's "amazing experience" at the Junior Eurovision
03 December 2019
"I enjoyed every second!" said Erin Mai, the 13-year-old girl from Llanrwst who represented Wales in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
After winning the popular Chwilio am Seren Junior Eurovision TV series earlier this year, the highlight of her journey was in Gliwice, Poland, with an audience of millions across Europe watching Erin perform her song, Calon in Curo.
"The whole experience is like a dream come true. I never thought I would be on the huge stage of Junior Eurovision," said Erin Mai, a pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst.
"It's absolutely incredible - the stage, the make-up, the hair and the hundreds of staff backstage. I feel so lucky to have had this experience."
Over 30 of Erin Mai family and friends from Llanrwst came to Poland to support Erin.
Poland came in first place with Wales coming 18th against 19 other European countries.
"A big thank you to everyone who has voted and supported me every step of the way. I will never forget this experience." said Erin.
Elen Rhys, S4C's Content Commissioner, said: "This competition has given Wales and S4C an international platform.
"We are delighted to have been able to offer a young star the golden opportunity to shine and wave the Welsh flag and the Welsh language in front of an audience of millions across Europe."
