17 February 2020
S4C will be launching a new evening schedule on Monday 24 February – as suggested by viewers.
Having listened to the opinions of our viewers, the new schedule has been designed to create regular slots for our news broadcasts and soap operas and to bring exciting new shows.
From 24 February, viewers can enjoy:
- Newyddion (News) - Monday to Friday at 7.30pm
- Pobol y Cwm – Monday to Thursday at 8.00pm with an extended episode on Wednesday night
- Rownd a Rownd – Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8.25pm
- Ffermio – moving to 9.00pm on Monday night
- New and popular returning shows at 9.00pm on Monday to Thursday night, starting with Corau Rhys Meirion, Ysgol Ni: Maesincla, Cynefin and Jonathan.
- Live sport on Friday nights
- Heno – Heno will stay at 7pm on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but will move to a 6.30pm slot on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. An additional episode of Heno will also be shown live on Saturday nights, at 7.30pm.
To mark the launch week of the new schedule, a special live episode of Ffermio: Wyna Byw, will be shown in its new broadcast slot, at 9.00pm on Monday 24 February. The episode will be broadcast live from the lambing shed of presenter Meinir Howells' farm, during one of the busiest times of the farming calendar, lambing season.
The changes to the schedule come after numerous discussions with S4C viewers, from every age and background, in focus groups and viewers evenings across the nation.
Amanda Rees, S4C Director of Content, said: "We have asked our viewers about which S4C shows they enjoy the most and when they would like to watch them. Their response has been at the heart of our decision to create a new broadcast schedule.
"Our aim is to create a more consistent pattern for our content every night, by giving some of S4C's most popular shows a firm footing in the schedule and to provide flexibility to show new programmes in a later broadcast slot. We hope this will make it easier for everyone to watch S4C."
