The Right Reverend Andy John, Bishop of Bangor, will address the nation on Good Friday with a message about these turbulent times.
He will pay tribute to the ones that have responded bravely, and those who are tackling the challenges that we face.
He says in his message: "We thank the NHS staff, health workers and care providers, and the thousands who have volunteered."
His address will be broadcast on Good Friday, April 10, at 7.45 pm on S4C.
The meaning of Easter, according to the Right Reverend Andy John, is a vision of a new-looking world. A new world full of promise and love is at the heart of the resurrection. The true message of Easter is as relevant as ever, as the Rt Reverend tells us that we all have a responsibility to create a new way of life as a result of the coronavirus.
"We all experience the effects of the coronavirus in our lives," he says, but Andy John also sees opportunity in the midst of all this. "One of the striking things about this strange, new way of life is that it has come up with some surprises. A phone call from someone who has been a stranger for years, a warm smile across the street when out for a walk.
"Embracing the silence rather than fearing it can open the door to new, deeper experiences. When we are in the middle of any crisis, it is difficult to see beyond the horizon of our distress, but it won't be dark forever. "
Andy John was elected Bishop of Bangor in 2008. As well as his biblical studies, his interests include music – which varies from Arvo Pärt to Led Zeppelin – art, and sport. He has taken part in numerous marathons, including the Snowdonia marathon.
