17 BAFTA Cymru nominations for S4C

S4C has received 17 nominations in this year's BAFTA Cymru Awards list, which was announced on Thursday, 3 September.

Popular series Ysgol Ni: Maesincla (Darlun) won a nomination in the Best Factual Series category.

There were two nominations for the gritty, pioneering drama series Merched Parchus (ieie productions), in the Breakthrough category and also for Mari Beard and Hannah Jarman in the Best Writer category.

S4C received two nominations in the Children's Programme category including Cic (Boom Cymru) and Deian a Loli (Cwmni Da).

There were also two nominations in the Best Presenter category, to Emma Walford and Trystan Ellis Morris for their work on Prosiect Pum Mil (Boom Cymru) and to Carys Eleri for her programme Carys Eleri'n Caru (Captain Jac).

Priodas Pum Mil (Boom Cymru) also received a nomination in the Best Entertainment Programme category as well as Heno (Tinopolis) and Cyrn ar y Mississippi (Dearheart Productions).

Current Affairs series Y Byd ar Bedwar (ITV Wales) received a nomination in the Best News and Current Affairs Program category, as did Tudur Owen: O Fôn i'r Lleuad (Kailash Films Ltd) in the Best Individual Factual Programme category. Mei Williams was also nominated in the Best Factual Director category for his work on Tudur Owen: O Fôn i'r Lleuad (Kailash Films Ltd).

Siôn Aaron and Timothy Lyn were nominated for Best Factual Director for their work on Eirlys, Dementia and Tim's heart-warming documentary.

S4C received a nomination in the Photography and Lighting: Fiction category where Bjorn Bratberg was nominated for his work on the drama series Bang (Joio)

S4C also received two joint nominations with BBC Wales, including the Best Drama for Un Bore Mercher / Keeping Faith (Vox Pictures) and also the Best Original Music category for Karl Jenkins and Jody Jenkins for the Cymru Wyllt / Wales: Land of the Wild series.

Congratulating everyone who has been nominated, S4C's Director of Content Amanda Rees said: "We are extremely proud of all the productions that have been nominated for the prestigious BAFTA Cymru 2020 awards.

"The whole list shows quality and the breadth of S4C's services across all genres, and celebrating children's programmes, drama, factual, entertainment, current affairs, and digital.

"I'm very proud of them all, and best wishes to everyone at the online awards ceremony."

The ceremony will take place at 7.00pm on 25 October 2020 on BAFTA's Facebook and YouTube pages.
