Y Sgarmes Ddigidol – S4C's new Rugby Vodcast

12 October 2020

Does Wayne Pivac know his best Wales XV? Which Wales players will star in the Autumn internationals? And what's the view on Steff Evans' striking new mullet?

As the Wales team prepare for a busy Autumn, these are just some of the hot topics that will be discussed by rugby stars from past and present in a new Welsh language vodcast by S4C.

Y Sgarmes Ddigidol will provide reaction from some of the game's best-known figures to every Wales match over the next two months.

Television presenter and ex-professional rugby player, Rhodri Gomer, will host the podcast, with legendary winger Shane Williams joining him every week.

They will be joined by a host of stars throughout the series, including Nathan Brew, Elinor Snowsill, Sioned Harries, Nigel Owens and many more.

Shane Williams said: "Everyone enjoys watching the Wales rugby team playing and I'm excited for these games to start.

"Wayne Pivac needs to win games. The Six Nations was not what everyone was expecting to see and with the way that it finished, without playing against Scotland, would have been frustrating for Wayne. He will want to start again by winning the first game back.

"But he's also building. He wants to give the young players a chance. It's a strange time but I hope the players go out there and play like they do for their clubs and give everything in that shirt.

"It was great to see Louis Rees Zammit and Callum Sheedy being picked, and there is still a lot of experience in this squad, so he's mixed things up. For me, there's almost nothing to lose."

Y Sgarmes Ddigidol will be released as a vodcast on the @S4Cchwaraeon Facebook page and the S4C Youtube page during the Autumn International window.

The audio podcast will be available to download from iTunes, Spotify and all main podcast providers.

Watch every Wales match during the Autumn live on S4C, starting with the friendly match between France and Wales on Saturday 24 October at 7.30pm.
