Nigel Owens joins S4C's Clwb Rygbi for the Six Nations
1 February 2020
Nigel Owens will be a part of S4C's Clwb Rygbi Rhyngwladol team for the 2021 Guinness Six Nations Championship.
The 2015 Rugby World Cup final referee recently announced his retirement from officiating the international game, and for this year's Six Nations, will be on hand to share his knowledge and insight with S4C viewers.
Nigel Owens said: "It will be a strange feeling not to be officiating in this year's Guinness Six Nations, but I'm looking forward to taking my place pitch side as part of the Clwb Rygbi team."
Owens joins presenter Gareth Rhys Owen and reporter Catrin Heledd, with current and former Wales internationals Jamie Roberts, Rhys Patchell, Lloyd Williams, Sioned Harries, Nathan Brew, Andrew Coombs and Nicky Robinson.
Former Wales captains Gwyn Jones and Jonathan Davies will be joining Cennydd Davies in the commentary box.
S4C is the only broadcaster showing every Wales game live in this year's Championship, starting with Wales v Ireland on Sunday 7 February at the Principality Stadium, with coverage beginning at 2.15pm.
Gareth Rhys Owen added: "This will be a Six Nations like no other and a match day in Cardiff will seem a very different place this time around.
"After an up-and-down autumn, the Wales team and coaches will be desperate to kick on and challenge for the Six Nations.
"First up is Ireland at home, a team who, like Wales, is going through something of a transitional period and there is a lot riding on that game for both sides."
Clwb Rygbi Rhyngwladol's coverage of Wales men's and women's teams' Six Nations matches is sponsored by Isuzu.
Clwb Rygbi Rhyngwladol is a BBC Cymru production for S4C.
