Brand-new drama Bregus (Fragile) is in production and will be seen on S4C on Sunday, March 21, as part of the broadcaster's series of new, original dramas.

Produced by Fiction Factory (Y Gwyll/Hinterland), Bregus will be aired on S4C's trusted Sunday night drama slot, giving audiences an exciting and dark new drama to get stuck into.

The 6-part drama series focuses on Ellie's not-as-it-seems perfect life. Ellie, who is played by Hannah Daniel (Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith, Y Gwyll/Hinterland) seems to have it all – the perfect husband, daughter and close-knit group of friends. The unbreakable gang are all in their mid-thirties. They depend on each other, they're a family.

But what happens when tragedy strikes and unleashes demons in Ellie that threaten the façade of her life and even the core of her sanity.

The series was created by Mared Swain and Ffion Williams back in 2018.

"Like all parents, we were two busy mums who tried – and often failed – to get the balance right between the everyday and work life. More than ever we both felt the pressures of a world that was alien to us, and we craved to create a series that mirrored these feelings." says Ffion.

"From the start, we wanted to create a female main character (Ellie), who behaves in the same way we're used to seeing men behaving on screen for years. As creators, something that interests us is how we as a society judge women and men for their actions.

"We're very excited to see how the audience reacts to Ellie – a woman who doesn't always follow the stereotype. She's a mother who's not always motherly, a friend who doesn't always think, a surgeon who can't always save a life, and a wife who's not entirely dependable."
