S4C has today confirmed another new hiring to bolster the creative refresh within the Channel's ongoing commissioning strategy.
Iwan England, a recent graduate of the Factual Fast Track training scheme funded by the BBC, Channel 4 and S4C, has today been confirmed in the newly created position as Head of Unscripted.
The remit for this senior commissioning role will be to focus on developing the Channel's co-productions, premium limited series, ambitious formats and international slate of content.
England joins S4C after twenty-two years working in TV production, most recently as Executive Producer of several popular episodes of the BBC One 'Our Lives' strand including 'Searching for My Other Mam' and 'Born Deaf, Raised Hearing.'
He developed, produced, and directed the multi award winning drama documentary 'Aberfan, The Fight for Justice' which was a BBC One, BBC Wales and S4C co-commission, presented by Huw Edwards, which told the story of the decades long fight for justice of the people of Aberfan, the village where he was brought up.
He has also collaborated on several other productions with Huw Edwards, most recently the Open University and BBC Wales co-production 'Wales: Who Do We Think We Are.'
He has collaborated with stand-up comedian and presenter Elis James on several comedy and factual series produced through Alpha Productions, the company Iwan established and has run since 2014.
The BBC Two and BBC Wales series 'Funny Nation' saw James interview a host of comedy talents including Rob Brydon, Ruth Jones, Rhod Gilbert and Kiri Pritchard-McLean, and a further audio collaboration with James won gold at the British Podcast Awards.
Other notable Executive Producer credits include:
Searching for My Other Mam (Our Lives) - Ffilmiau Twm Twm for BBC One, Who Needs Banksy (Our Lives) - Gritty Ltd for BBC One, Born Deaf, Raised Hearing (Our Lives) - On Par Productions for BBC One and Wrecsam, Clwb Ni - Wildflame Productions for S4C.
