Christmas Gingerbread Biscuits
Today's challenge is some tasty Christmas biscuits... but is it Jack or Cadi that will be the best Cjristmas Baker?
Ginger Cookies
5 tbsp Water
210g Brown Sugar
3 tbsp Dark Treakle
3 tbsp Golden Syrup
3 tbsp Ground Cinamon
3 tbsp Ground Ginger
250g Salted Butter
1 tsp Bicarb of Soda
560g Plain Flower
Combine all the ingredients except the butter and the flour in a heavy saucepan and bring to the boil. Make sure to have an adult to help you with this. While the ingredients are boiling take the saucepan off the heat. Using a wooden spoon mix in the butter.
Once all ingredients are combined add the bicarb of Soda and whisk together. Do not over stir.
Pour the mixture into a bowl and leave to cool.
Once the mixture has cooled sieve the flour into the mixture and mix slowly. Once the mixture has formed a dough, wrap in cling film and leave in the fridge overnight.
After the dough has been in the fridge overnight, take out and place the ball of dough on the counter dusted with some extra flour. Roll the dough to be 1cm thick. Use shape cutters to cut out the cookies into different shapes.
Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Put the baking tray in the fridge for 30 mins before placing in the oven at 200c for 8 minutes. Take out the oven and place the cookies on a cooling rack to cool.
Use icing and sprinkles to decorate.
