S4C is pleased to announce that the channel's new Secretary to the Board is Owain Lloyd.

Having worked for the Civil Service for more than 20 years in a variety of different roles, Owain has managed Welsh Government's Childcare, Play and Early Years division for the last three-and-a-half years, leading on a range of commitments including the Government's childcare offer childcare for three and four-year-olds throughout Wales.

Originally from Aberdare, Owain now lives in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

As part of his new job, Owain will be responsible for advising the Board in order to ensure appropriate and effective governance across all of S4C's work.

S4C Chairman Huw Jones has welcomed Owain's appointment: "We are very pleased to be able to welcome someone who is held in such high regard in his present role with Welsh Government, to take responsibility for this central position, at a time of change in the constitution of S4C. Owain will be an excellent addition to the team."

Owain Lloyd said: "I am very much looking forward to joining the S4C team. After 20 years of working in the same organisation, I'm ready to take on a completely different challenge. It is an interesting time for S4C with a number of exciting changes and I hope that I can bring the skills I have developed over the recent years to help the Board develop further."

Owain will be taking up his post on August 1, 2019.
